Brazil vs Croatia 3-1 Results and Highlights - Group A

Brazil defeated Croatia in the opening game of the World Cup 2014, 3-1. Croatia put up 1 on the scoreboard 11 minutes into the game when Brazil defender Marcelo made an embarrassing own goal.

It fell to the hands (or feet)  of Brazil's star Neymar to bring them back scoring in the 28th minute and adding a penalty in the 71st after Fred went down in the box.


Oscar finished things off with the third goal in added time.

Croatia and Iran Arrives in Brazil

Two of the 31 teams who will be participating in the 2014 FIFA World Cup arrived in Brazil on Tuesday, June 3.

Iran arrived at the Sao Paulo International Airport at 4:10pm (local time). Shortly after, Croatia arrived at Salvador International Airport at 4:15 PM (local time) and went straight to the Team Base Camp in Praia do Forte, Mata de Sao Joao, in the metropolitan region of Salvador .

Upon arrival in Sao Paulo, coach Carlos Queiroz said that Iran will do everything possible to have a successful campaign in the FIFA World Cup.

"As we came from the other side of the world we arrived earlier to start our preparation. We have earned the right to play against the best and now it's time to do it. We have 90 minutes in each game and we will use them the best possible way", Queiroz said.

FIFA Rejects Josip Simunic's Appeal

The FIFA Appeal Committee rejected the appeal by Croatian defender Josip Simunic and upheld the 10-game ban decision rendered by the FIFA Disciplinary Committee last December 12, 2013. According to the FIFA official website, Simunic is banned from entering the confines of the stadiums for those ten matches and also fined CHF 30,000. The sanctions were imposed after he lead the fans in Zagreb in a pro-Nazi chant.

Croatia will battle against Brazil, Cameroon and Mexico in Group A of the World Cup and will contest the opening game against the hosts on June 12 in Sao Paulo.
