Germany receive FIFA World Cup Badge at Die Mannschaft film premiere

Prior to today’s world premiere of the film Die Mannschaft (The Team) - a documentary charting Germany’s triumphant 2014 FIFA World Cup™ campaign - FIFA President Blatter awarded the German national team and its coaching staff the FIFA World Champions Badge in Berlin. On the stage at the cinema in Potsdamer Platz, Germany’s entire FIFA World Cup winning side, German FA [DFB] president Wolfgang Niersbach and the FIFA President looked back on the unforgettable emotions the tournament in Brazil stirred up.
“Winning the World Cup in Brazil crowned the development that started with the summer fairytale of hosting the finals in 2006,” said FIFA President Blatter, who also praised the exemplary ambassadorial role the 23 members of the squad played at the tournament: “The team’s attractive and attacking playing style is symbolic of a cosmopolitan and engaging Germany that people everywhere recognise, respect and appreciate.”
FIFA first awarded the coveted World Champions Badge to Italy in 2006. In recognition of Germany’s success at Brazil 2014, and as a permanent reminder of their triumph, the team may now wear the Badge on their shirts until the Final of the Russia 2018 World Cup.
DFB president Niersbach was delighted to receive the accolade, saying: “It’s a huge honour for our national team to be able to wear the World Champions Badge on their shirt and it is visible proof that they achieved great things in Brazil. The entire footballing community in Germany is proud of this golden emblem.”
Coach Joachim Low and World Cup-winning captain Philipp Lahm likewise expressed their pride at the award, as well as having lifted the country’s fourth title following the achievements in 1954, 1974 and 1990. “The Badge is a wonderful honour but at the same time I view it as an incentive and an obligation not to ease off,” said Low.

Argentina spoiled the party for world cup champions Germany by crushing the hosts 4-2 in an international friendly game in Duesseldorf on Wednesday .
A brilliant performance from Angel Di Maria spurred Argentina to a crushing 4-2 friendly win over world champions Germany on Wednesday in an entertaining rematch of July's World Cup final.
Despite the absence of injured captain Lionel Messi, Argentina ran circles around the World Cup winners on their home turf in the first match for both teams since Germany's 1-0 extra-time victory in the final in Brazil.
So impressive was the performance of the Argentine winger, who had missed the final through injury, in the Duesseldorf arena that even many of the German fans applauded his performance when he was replaced late in the match.
Germany coach Joachim Loew put only four of the starting 11 that won Germany's fourth World Cup on the pitch in the warm-up match for their Euro 2016 campaign that starts on Sunday against Scotland.
Captain Philipp Lahm, striker Miroslav Klose and defender Per Mertesacker, who all retired following the World Cup triumph, were hailed by the sell-out crowd of 51,132 while several other key players were missing through injury.
The inexperienced Germany defence could not contain new Manchester United signing Di Maria in the first half but also left lots of open space for lightening counter-attacks by moving deep into Argentina's territory.

Germany, Argentina Set for World Cup Final rematch
Fifty days after winning the FIFA World Cup™ for the fourth time, the German national team assembled in Dusseldorf on Monday for Wednesday's repeat of the Final against Argentina.
Wednesday's match was already set to be a glamour friendly but there is added hype in the wake of Mario Gotze's extra-time winner when the teams last met in Rio de Janeiro on 13 July.
Around 45,000 people watched the World Cup-winners train on Monday and Wednesday's game at the Espirit Arena will attract a sell-out crowd.
On Sunday, Joachim Low's side host Scotland in Dortmund in their first qualifier for UEFA EURO 2016. For a German team still taking in the World Cup triumph, the two games have come around quickly.
"I think it's not easy for us - that's clear," Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer said on Monday. "For Scotland it's the game of the year to start against us. We have to play well against Argentina with regard to the weekend and to be fully prepared for it."

USA Advances to Knockout Round Despite 1-0 Loss to Germany
The United States suffered a 1-0 loss to Germany in a hard-fought final group stage game, but thanks Portugal’s 2-1 win over Ghana, the US team will advance to the knockout round.
The Germans, three-time World Cup champions, finished with seven points, while the U.S. had four after allowing a 95th-minute goal against Portugal on Sunday in a 2-2 draw. Portugal also had four, but the Americans advanced from the so-called “Group of Death” because their goal difference was even and the Portuguese were minus three.
Germany won Group G, and Portugal and Ghana were eliminated.

Easy Win for Germany Against Portugal 4 - 0
Today proved a walk in the park for Germany in a game that was expected to be one of the toughest. The Germans were in full control against Portugal.
EA Sports FIFA simulation predicted that Germany will win the World Cup this year.

Germany Will Win the World Cup - EA FIFA 14
Brazil or Argentina may be the fan favorites to win the World Cup but EA's FIFA 14 has a different team in mind (or in its Artificial mind). According to a special FIFA 14 simulation by EA Sports, Germany will win the 2014 FIFA World Cup by defeating Brazil 2-1 in extra time.
"EA was able to simulate the 2014 FIFA World Cup and test all 32 teams under the same conditions they will face in the weeks ahead in Brazil," stated the company. "It was determined that Germany will defeat Brazil 2-1 (ET) at the Estádio do Maracanã on July 13 to win the country's fourth FIFA World Cup, becoming the first European nation to win the FIFA World Cup on South American soil."
Fans should remember that four years ago EA accurately predicted that Spain would win the tournament.
